A Sourcing Team, comprised of UConn faculty and staff from the Storrs, Regional Campuses and UCHC, was formed in August, 2011 to explore ways to possibly reduce the University’s annual spend of over $7.1 million on telecom equipment and services.

Since 2011, strides were taken to reduce expenditures by at least $700k. This included negotiating with several of the University’s providers in an effort to continue to provide the University community with the best service at the lowest possible price.

Additional efforts underway are exploring ways to consolidate cellular service, development of a unified communication plan, and a reduction in overall long distance charges. Updates on these efforts will be provided as they become available.
